Bele Chere has just ended here in Asheville, one of the largest street festivals in the United States. Set in historic downtown Asheville, thousands come every year to listen to great bands and sample world-class cuisine. Since we are in the middle of summer, I thought a cool tasty treat would be in order. Once you get your smoker going, drag out the ice cream maker. Pour in a two-liter of orange soda (actually, my mother tells me we used many different flavors when I was young) and a can of sweetened condensed milk. Then follow the instructions for your ice cream machine. Thanks goes out to Karen for reminding me of this great, simple recipe.
